Specific Information regarding Numeric Pagers
If you have a numeric only pager you can still use AirNote to
send you numeric pages or special numeric codes based on your own
personal criteria.
Here is some information on how our numeric paging works:
- We will send the first 16 numeric digits we find in your
email to your pager.
- Anything you enter in a subject line between brackets and
* we will send exactly as found. For example if you send
a message with this subject: [*5555555*] we will send
5555555 to your pager.
- You can use the advanced rules on our website to send
certain numeric codes to your pager based on the content
of an incoming email message.
If you want to sign up for AirNote we need the following
information from you during the sign-up process.
- PAGER TYPE - This is the physical model of your
pager, for example Motorola Advisor, NEC Index. This is
an optional field.
- PIN - Every pager has its own unique personal
identification number, called a "PIN".
Remember, your pager is actually a radio, so this PIN is
your specific address. Your paging company representative
can tell you what your PIN is, if you don't know. This is
a required field. In some cases your numeric pager number
is your PIN number.
- MODEM NUMBER - The paging company that provides
your pager also has a telephone number that enables you,
and everyone else, to make a modem connection into the
paging network. Look for your modem access number in our
list below. If you can't find the number you're looking
for, Select unknown and send us an email with your PIN,
modem access number and the name and location of your
paging carrier. We will test the modem access number and
add it to our database. Again, your pager sales
representative can be of help here.
- MAX MESSAGE LENGTH - This setting controls how
many characters of your AirNote messages are forwarded to
your pager. This can be set to any length. Note however,
that if you set this for more than the number of
characters that your pager will accept in one page, it
will result in the AirNote message being sent to you as
two or more pages. Your paging company determines how
many characters are included in a single page. Your
monthly paging bill may increase with the number of pages
you receive. This setting can increase or reduce the
number of paging messages you receive.
- MAX MESSAGES/HOUR - Enter the maximum number of
messages you would like to receive in any rolling 60
minute time period. This feature can help you control
your paging costs in case of a runaway message.
- ALIAS - This is the email alias that will precede
"@AirNote.net" .
- PASSWORD - This is the password you will use to
access your account from the AirNote.net web site. If you
don't specify a password, a default password will be
used.
