Message Filtering Help
Filtering provides you the ability to allow or suppress messages from being forwarded to your wireless device. Filtering is divided into two categories, which we refer to as 'Hot List' and 'Junk List'. The e-mail addresses you enter on your 'Hot List' are your important messages. Messages sent from e-mail addresses entered on your Junk list do not need urgent attention and will not be forwarded to your wireless device. Another benefit of entries you add to your hot list is you can set a message length that will override your default message length. If you cannot find the message length field scroll to the right.
Addresses are entered in the following format:
|
Example |
Description |
|
jsmith@xyz.com |
This entry applies to a specific address. |
|
jsmith@ |
This entry applies to a specific person at any of his multiple addresses. |
|
*@xyz.com |
This entry applies to everyone at xyz.com. |
|
doctor?@xyz.com |
This entry applies to any address that begins with doctor followed by 1 character, e.g. doctor1, doctor2. |
|
* |
An asterisk in the Junk List means ignore all. An asterisk in the Hot List means send everything (default). |
The valid wildcards are '*' which equates to any number of characters, or '?' which equates to a single character.
The Hot List always takes precedence over the Junk List. (Example: if you have *@xyz.com in your junk list and then enter jsmith@xyz.com in your hot list you will only receive e-mail from jsmith@xyz.com.)
Common Example: If you wish to restrict your messages to a limited number of e-mail
addresses than enter a '*' in your junk list to filter out all messages to your
device and then enter the specific list of e-mail addresses you
wish to receive from in your hot list.
